The 2016 Pitchfork Music Festival Is Here

Savages, Sufjan Stevens, Beach house, Blood Orange and more descent on Chicago's Union Park for another eclectic lineup.

What started as a modest celebration of indie artists aimed at a niche Pitchfork-reading demographic, has morphed into one of the largest music festivals in the country—a large, diverse music event that is equally about discovery as it is about celebration.

This year’s Pitchfork Music Festival is almost here: it is happening Friday, July 15 to Sunday, July 17 at Chicago’s Union Park, and the lineup is as eclectic as we’ve come to expect from the event.

Artists expected to hit the stage include Sufjan Stevens, Beach House, Whitney, FKA twigs, Broken Social Scene, Brian Wilson, Savages, Blood Orange, Oneohtrix Point Never, Holly Herndon, Neon Indian, Kamasi Washington, Carly Rae Jepsen, Jeremih, Julia Holter, Shamir, Woods, The Range, Anderson .Paak and more.

Three-day passes are sold for $165 and single day passes for Friday and Saturday are available for $65 per day. Not many are left, however.

Alongside FlatstockCHIRP Record FairCoterie Craft Fair, and Book Fort, from this year, the festival will include The Old Town School of Folk Music Kids Area, a special new addition for families attending with younger children, which will give the opportunity for kids to experiment with instruments, drum, strum, and pick up some fun festival giveaways.

Additionally, the festival has recently announced the Pitchfork Music Festival Voter Engagement and Mobilization Project, a new platform to support voter registration and political participation. In conjunction with the Public Action Foundationthe Voter Engagement and Mobilization Project aims to make a difference in both Chicago and the wider Pitchfork community.
