Our friend J.D. Samson, of punk-pop trio Le Tigre and more recently, NO TOFU cover stars MEN, has been remixing a lot lately. Avan Lava, Honcho and Michelle Chamuel are just three of the artists that have asked JD to rework their tracks in recent months. Now, the always up-for-it JD has turned to indie-pop chanteuse-on-the-rise Alex Winston, whom you are about to hear a lot more of. Alex made waves with her 2012 album King Con, and recently turned it out at an SXSW showcase with Neon Trees, whom she will be embarking on a tour with soon. JD’s treatment turns the exquisite but otherwise timid “Careless” into a disco-pop belter, with Winston’s proclamations “I want to be careless / Why can’t I be careless with you,” taking on an entirely new dimension.
