Last Chance: Parergon at Blum & Poe, Los Angeles

One week left to catch the '80s/90s Japanese retrospective at Blum & Poe

A large group show featuring the work of twenty-five artists, Paregron, on show until March 23, 2019 at Los Angeles’ Blum & Poe gallery, draws attention to the most influential and pivotal contemporary works created in Japan between the 1980s and 1990s.

The title of the exhibition, which explores themes of politics, transcending media, performativity, and satire, makes reference to Gallery Paregron in Tokyo, active from 1981-1987, which introduced many artists associated with the New Wave movement.

Paregron features artists including Nobuyoshi Araki , Naoya Hatakeyama, Ryoji Ikeda, Yukie Ishikawa, Tatsuo Miyajima, Daido Moriyama, Kazumi Nakamura, Shinro Ohtake, Tsuyoshi Ozawa, Yutaka Takanashi, Noboru Tsubaki and Yukinori Yanagi  in variety of media spanning painting, sculpture, performance, noise, video, and photography.
