Before the madness of Spring/Summer 2016 fashion week (which kicked off in Milan earlier this week on September 22nd), another type of fashion showcase took over the city, and, with the fashion world’s eyes being on New York, you would be forgiven for admitting to having completely missed it: the Milan Fashion Film Festival.
This year’s festival, which ran from September 20th – 22nd, showcased 180 films from both established as well as emerging directors, designers and labels. The jury — composed of Franca Sozzani, Rankin, Bruno Aveillan, Lisa Immordino Vreeland, Mario Codognato and Sara Maino — selected 13 winners from the pool across two categories: New Talent and Established Talent.
Rankin’s X for Coco de Mer, Albert Moya’s High Tide for Dries van Noten and Justin Anderson’s Jumper for Jonathan Saunders all took home accolades. But the big winner was Harley Weir, whose short Legs are Not Doors for Proenza Schouler took home the top prize.
Below is a complete list of winners, alongside some of our favorite films.
