A large group show featuring the work of twenty-five artists, Paregron<\/em>, on show until March 23, 2019 at Los Angeles’ Blum & Poe gallery, draws attention to the most influential and pivotal contemporary works created in Japan between the 1980s and 1990s.<\/p>\n

The title of the exhibition, which explores themes of politics,\u00a0transcending media, performativity, and satire, makes reference to Gallery Paregron in Tokyo, active from 1981-1987, which introduced many artists associated with the New Wave movement.<\/p>\n

Paregron<\/em> features artists including Nobuyoshi Araki , Naoya Hatakeyama, Ryoji Ikeda, Yukie Ishikawa, Tatsuo Miyajima, Daido Moriyama, Kazumi Nakamura, Shinro Ohtake, Tsuyoshi Ozawa, Yutaka Takanashi, Noboru Tsubaki and Yukinori Yanagi\u00a0\u00a0in variety of media\u00a0spanning painting, sculpture, performance, noise, video, and photography.<\/p>\n
