South London electronic musician yunè pinku is back with a new single, “Believe,” marking the first glimpse into her forthcoming EP, Scarlet Lamb. Scheduled for release on October 4th via Method 808, the EP builds on the artist’s previous release, BABYLON IX.
“Believe,” a collaboration with Cecile Believe, was described by pinku as a “baptism” into her new era, and it blends her signature electronic eclecticism with a touch of hyperpop and indie influences. The song is both an introspective reflection and an anthem of faith, whether internal or external. “It’s about the elevation that faith can give you,” pinku explains. “It’s written from an almost omnipresent point of view, like a guardian angel or a lost friend on the other side looking out for you.”
The release of “Believe” follows yunè pinku’s 2022 EP, BABYLON IX. This new single marks an expansion of her electronic roots: the track’s layered textures hint at a richness in sound absent from her earlier releases, while still capturing the haunting, ethereal quality that defines her music.
Yunè pinku, born Asha Yunè, has been making waves since her debut single, “Bluff,” a hypnotic house number that was both ballsy and fun. Her music reflects a blend of extroverted expression with an introverted sensibility, weaving complex layers within more contemplative tones.
The new EP, Scarlet Lamb, will continue to explore these themes, incorporating a broader range of influences while maintaining the atmospheric quality of her earlier work.
In addition to her music, yunè pinku’s live performances have been celebrated for their high energy and hyperpop influences. Her shows weave a blend of rave culture and contemporary electronic music, characterized by a confident stage presence and intricate sound design that have earned her comparisons to the boundary-pushing creativity of Radiohead.
As yunè pinku prepares to release Scarlet Lamb, fans can look forward to a project that not only expands her musical horizons but also continues to engage with the nuanced emotional landscapes that define her work.
