Backstage at Dries Van Noten Men’s RTW SS16

Color and print were strongly featured at Dries van Noten’s Men SS16 show in Paris this week: garments embellished with prints of Marilyn Monroe in her heyday screamed for attention, but this was, otherwise, a clean and mature collection of loose silhouettes, liberally-fitting shirts, high-waist pants, mesh tank tops and suspenders. Barbara Bologna: Restricted Knitwear

Barbara Bologna’s eccentric Fall collection embodies a charismatic yet playful energy. Once a sculptress and performance artist, the Italian designer applies fashion as a way of questioning her own artistic thinking and practice which originates from deep inside her conscience. We sat down with the idiosyncratic designer and conversed on her Fall/Winter 2015 collection, and the pressure buyers place on […]

The […]

Patrik Guggenberger: Tailings

“Darkness is an inescapable part of life,” says Swedish designer Patrik Guggenberger. Praised for his classic garments restructured into opulently draped avant-garde pieces, the young designer (he is yet to graduate from Stockholm’s Beckman College of Design) has steadily been making waves on the international fashion circuit. This month, he unveiled his ambitious new collection, called “Tailings.” Following on from his previous collection, […]

Wig Up: Girlfriend’s Ode to 90s Drag

In the ’90s, with movies such as The Birdcage, To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar and Paris is Burning, drag was slowly but steadily permeating popular culture. Drag mainstream was—thanks to, in no small part, larger-than-life personalities such as RuPaul and Lady Bunny—spilling over into the “regular” mainstream, despite its largely underground status. Photographer Michael James O’Brien spent much of the decade […]

The Outsider

Maybe someday we’ll find refuge in true reality. In the meantime, can I just say how opposed I am to all of this?               Photographer: Josh Filauri Stylist: Samantha Pletzke Grooming: Amanda Wilson Model: Hektor with New York Models
