Never mind the celebrity cameos in New York, or the cooler-than-though vibe in London, Paris Fashion Week has been and remains the leading, most creative of the major bi-annual fashion showcases. We remember the just-closed Fall\/Winter 2015 event through a selection of our 5 most memorable shows.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 13px; font-family: 'Playfair Display', serif;\">1. Maison Margiela<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13px; font-family: 'Playfair Display', serif;\">This show was everything one would expect from John Galliano&#8217;s debut\u00a0for Maison Margiela, and then some: it was wacky, creative, it had drama, hunchbacked models, performance art, and it oozed plenty of charisma and playful irreverence.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1423\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.notofu.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/bestMARGIELA1.jpg?resize=640%2C430\" alt=\"Maison Margiela : Runway - Paris Fashion Week Womenswear Fall\/Winter 2015\/2016\" width=\"640\" height=\"430\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 13px; font-family: 'Playfair Display', serif;\">2.\u00a0Comme des Garcons<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13px; font-family: 'Playfair Display', serif;\">Seattle noise metal band Sunn O))) provided the aural backdrop to Rei Kawakubo&#8217;s brave, dark and affecting presentation: a mostly grey to black palette featured ornate, dream-like looks of\u00a0heavy\u00a0cloaks,\u00a0structural trousers and liberally gathered dresses that captured and mesmerized. It was dark, but it didn&#8217;t feel quite so.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1420\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.notofu.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/bestCOMME.jpg?resize=640%2C425\" alt=\"Comme Des Garcons - Runway RTW - Fall 2015 - Paris Fashion Week\" width=\"640\" height=\"425\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 13px; font-family: 'Playfair Display', serif;\">3. Saint Laurent<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13px; font-family: 'Playfair Display', serif;\">Hedi Slimane delved into the past to deliver a collection that was anything but old. Skinny jeans, faded t-shirts, leather jackets, fur coats and shiny leather accessories reminded us of the 70s punk scene in the best ways possible. Pundits, however, rebutted by wondering <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/blogs\/style-blog\/wp\/2015\/03\/10\/saint-laurent-goes-punk-at-paris-fashion-week-but-can-ripped-stockings-work-for-luxury\/\">if it&#8217;s just too edgy<\/a><\/span>. Which is a pointless\u00a0question, because this was one of the most viscerally beautiful collections we have seen in Paris this year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1426\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.notofu.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/bestSAINTLAURENT-e1426077343450.jpg?resize=640%2C427\" alt=\"Saint Laurent RTW Fall Winter 2015 Paris\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 13px; font-family: 'Playfair Display', serif;\">4. Jacquemus<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13px; font-family: 'Playfair Display', serif;\">Jacquemus presentation was a bold and triumphant reminder that fashion doesn&#8217;t have to take itself so seriously, and when it doesn&#8217;t, great things can happen.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1422\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.notofu.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/bestJACQUEMUS-e1426077368299.jpg?resize=640%2C485\" alt=\"bestJACQUEMUS\" width=\"640\" height=\"485\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 13px; font-family: 'Playfair Display', serif;\">5.\u00a0Givenchy<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13px; font-family: 'Playfair Display', serif;\">Riccardo Tisci enlisted the help of makeup master\u00a0Pat McGrath to create ornamental\u00a0facial jewelry looks, including bejeweled nose rings and dramatic earrings that hung from ears\u2014and nose septa.\u00a0The ornate facial jewelry accompanied the exquisite tailoring of the garments\u2014at once\u00a0opulent and restrained. It was a beautiful, accomplished collection from a fashion house at its peak.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1425\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.notofu.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/bestGIVENCHY1-e1426077399220.jpg?resize=640%2C450\" alt=\"bestGIVENCHY\" width=\"640\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13px; font-family: 'Playfair Display', serif;\"><em>Honorable mentions<\/em>: Manish Arora, Junya Watanabe<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With Paris Fashion Week having come to a close, fashion month is officially over.
