Frieze New York, one of the world’s leading contemporary art fairs, returns to New York’s Randall’s Island Park from May 14\u201317, 2015 for the fourth time. Since debuting in 2012, Frieze New York has grown into a veritable street-cred alternative to Art Basel Miami Beach, which has become a bit like the populist, less-cool big brother.<\/p>\n

Here are the selections of some of the must-not-miss shows and exhibits from the upcoming fair.<\/p>\n

\u2018Aesthetics\u2019 of \u2018Female\u2019 \u2018Attractiveness\u2019<\/strong>
\nArtist: Casey Jane Ellison
\nFriday, May 15, 12pm<\/em><\/p>\n

Comedian and artist Casey Jane Ellison will lead a talk-show-style panel on the \u2018Aesthetics\u2019 of \u2018Female\u2019 \u2018Attractiveness\u2019 with Grace Dunham (writer and activist), Reina Gossett (activist, writer, artist), Karley Sciortino (writer), and Leilah Weinraub (artist and filmmaker).<\/p>\n

Pia Camil’s Ponchos<\/strong>

Artist Pia Camil will be distributing ponchos – dubbed as “habitable paintings” – to wear and keep during the fair. Only 800 are available, so get there early.<\/p>\n

Paul McCarthy and Leigh Ledare, known for their subversive, taboo-breaking work (Ledare is a photographer known for taking nudes with his mother, McCarthy is a performance artist and sculptor) speak to Chrissie Iles about their art.<\/p>\n

Flux Labyrinth<\/strong>
\nMultiple artists
\nThroughout the exhibition<\/em><\/p>\n

In 1975, George Maciunas and his Fluxus peers created Flux Labyrinth, a 200-foot-long labyrinth where viewers had to overcome a series of tactile obstacles and absurd obstructions. For the 2015 Frieze fair, a groups of artists is creating a similar experience centered around multiple narrow mazes which hide environments, sculptures and situations that viewers have to explore and discover.<\/p>\n
